Our Management's Take on Embracing the Hybrid Working Model

To work from home or to continue the current practice of working from the office? At Detik Ideal Sdn Bhd (DISB), preferences among our employees have been divided. Some cherish the office vibes and the meaningful face-to-face interactions with colleagues, while others seek the inspiration that comes from a change in environment, along with the benefits of reduced commuting time and costs.

At DISB, our focus has always been on talent empowerment, overall wellbeing, and increased productivity. We believe that embracing a hybrid working model aligns perfectly with these values, creating a workplace setup that fosters these principles.

The rise of hybrid

Hybrid working models, or Work from Home (WFH), have become the norm and are widely adopted today. The latest advanced technologies, digital solutions, and online communication channels effectively complement hybrid working models. Implementing WFH is no longer a hindrance for organisations, though we must acknowledge challenges such as managing team alignment and coordination, maintaining strong office culture, and preventing misuse of the system.

However, a simple search reveals that most surveys suggest hybrid work offers more benefits than drawbacks. While there is a rising trend among employees towards fully remote jobs and some employers still prefer conventional office setups, it is undeniable that a hybrid arrangement provides the best of both worlds.

A hybrid working model allows employees the flexibility to choose a comfortable, relaxed, and calm environment to perform their work. This contributes to increased productivity and improved mental health. The hybrid model is also about trust—trust between an employer and its employees. Allowing remote work from 9-5 showcases the employer's confidence in their staff to fulfill responsibilities without constant supervision. This trust can boost employees' morale, empowering them with the confidence to manage their work and time effectively.

Our decision to implement a hybrid working model reflects the management's growing trust in our talents. Over the years, our team at DISB has shown tremendous discipline and commitment. We believe that with this encouragement and empowerment, our team will grow stronger and better.

Moving forward - our aspiration

As we transition to a hybrid working model, our aspiration is to create a dynamic and inclusive workplace that leverages today's technology, fosters trust, and addresses challenges proactively. We aim to cultivate an environment where our employees can thrive, balancing personal and professional lives while contributing to the success of DISB.

The adoption of a hybrid working model marks a significant shift in traditional work paradigms. It is crucial to leverage modern technology, build trust, and tackle challenges head-on to ensure a sustainable, empowering, and productive workplace culture. Together, we will embrace this change and move forward towards a more innovative and flexible future.
